Cities on the Eastern Seaboard, like Boston, Massachusetts, have a long history. They were among the first areas settled by Europeans in the 1500s and 1600s and many of the buildings you see when you're walking down the street looking for somewhere to do your online flyer printing are historic structures from hundreds of years ago. This adds character to the city, but unfortunately older buildings often require more maintenance to keep their facades looking appealing to customers. Not every business can afford it. That's why the city of Boston has created the ReStore Boston program.
Run by the Boston Office of Neighborhood and Business Development, the ReStore Boston program aims to help local businesses afford the improvements and restoration work that their business needs in order to look more attractive to customers. The goal is to eventually have all of Boston's store fronts looking nice enough to appear as the background in a mortgages commercial. To date, the program has helped more than 300 businesses and finished 80 facade improvement projects.
The program began as a special initiative to improve the look of the shops on Blue Hill Avenue in the Roxbury neighborhood, which the city had targeted for urban renewal. The pilot project was so successful that when the work was done and the plastic tubing cutters had been put away, the project had attracted national attention and acclaim. The Roxbury project has inspired similar programs in other cities as well as the more wide ranging ReStore initiative here in Boston.
If you're a store owner in Boston or you're thinking about running a small business when you move there, you should make an effort to learn more about the program, as it will help you attract more customers and sell more organic diapers. Some of the things that ReStore Boston will help you with include having new signage made, removing those old metal roll-down grills, replacing store windows, and installing awnings and lighting. The city even provides a designer to assess what needs to be done.
The program works by providing store owners with grants of up to $7,500 to match their own investments into their properties. There's also a further $2,500 for signage improvements that doesn't have to be matched by the business. Some money comes in the form of grants, some in the form of loans, so contact the Department of Business Development to see what the city is willing to contribute to the renovations on your blow through valves shop. Keep in mind that you'll have to meet the eligibility requirements set out by the city.
